Io Moon Print
Io Moon Print
Gicleé print of my watercolor “Io” painting.
Io is the innermost of Jupiter’s four moon. Discovered in 1610 by Galileo, Io is named after the mythological character Io in Greek Mythology, a priestess of Hera who became one of Zeus’ (Jupiter in Roman mythology) lovers. Io has over 400 active volcanoes, making it the most geologically active object in our solar system. Io boasts over 100 mountains with some of these peaks reaching taller than Mt. Everest. Io’s volcanic plumes and lava flows paint its surface with shades of yellow, red, white, black, and green.
