Europa Moon Print
Europa Moon Print
Gicleé print of my watercolor “Europa” painting.
Europa is the smallest of Jupiter’s four moons. It is also the sixth largest moon in our solar system. Discovered in 1610 by Galileo, Europa is named after Europa, the legendary mother of King Minos of Crete and lover of Zeus (Jupiter in Roman mythology). Slightly smaller than the Earth’s moon, Europa is made of silicate rock and has a water-ice crust and an iron-nickel core. Its surface is stratiated by cracks and streaks, giving it a marvelous texture of winding lines against an otherwise smooth surface.
